What the Customer was Looking For
The brief was to create a garden extension that could be used all year round and felt like a natural part of the home. The space needed to be solid, well insulated and bright, with a design that worked with both the house and the garden.
The site itself added complexity. The garden required significant preparation, and the extension had to be coordinated alongside an underfloor heating installation. The customer wanted one company to manage the full process and take responsibility for getting the details right. What Work was Carried Out?
Fox delivered a 3.5m x 4m gable ended Edwardian style garden extension, managing all stages of the build.
The work included:
– Full site preparation, including excavation, removal of existing garden features and installation of a fully insulated concrete foundation
– Construction of the extension using a hup! wall system for improved insulation and structural performance
– Installation of vertical slatted external cladding in a dark finish
– Fitting of a gable ended Ultraroof tiled roof with integrated glazed panels to bring in natural light
– Installation of anthracite grey windows with top openers for ventilation
– Careful removal and refitting of existing bifold doors into the new structure
– Installation of aluminium steel look internal doors with sidelights to connect the extension to the main house
– Electrical work including roof lighting and new power points with USB sockets
– Full internal plastering and preparation for decoration
– Coordination with the underfloor heating installation and all building regulation requirements
Fox managed all building control approvals, SAP calculations and site waste throughout the project.
The End Result
The finished extension provides a practical, comfortable space that can be used throughout the year. The solid roof and insulated wall system help maintain consistent temperatures, while the glazed roof sections and large openings bring in natural light.
